Meet the Team

Jim, Steffen, and Jonah

A small crew based in Youngsville and Rolesville. The person who quotes your project is on it from the first measure to the last piece of trim.

Owner & Master Carpenter

Jim Cooper

Jim has been in construction since he was 18: four years of carpentry school in Tampa, ten-plus years with the same general contractor, and a climb from laborer to superintendent of light commercial jobs. He then started his own business and moved into residential work, where he has stayed.

That is 48 years in the trade. The current name dates to 2020. He is slowing the pace on purpose and pointing the last lap at cabinets and built-ins, the heirloom work where fit and finish matter more than speed.

He still measures every job, sketches it, quotes it in writing, and works the install with the crew. Married 44 years to Karen, whom he met on a commercial jobsite. Two grown children. Four grandchildren.

The Crew

Who you will see on your project

Steffen Schmitt

Shop Manager

Steffen joined about six years ago as a laborer and helper. He now runs the shop: milling stock, running the dovetail machine for drawer boxes, and building the custom cabinet line from start to finish.

If the piece left the Youngsville shop, Steffen had his hands on it.

Jonah Wright

Site Foreman

Jonah has been with the crew a little over a year. He runs the tool trailers and the people on renovation days: repairs, decks, screen rooms, and interior finishes.

Customers mention the same thing: he is easy to talk to, and he keeps a level head when the scope changes.

Karen Cooper

Payables

Karen and Jim have been married more than 44 years and worked together for the better part of 30. She now handles payables for vendors and suppliers. An accountant covers the rest of the admin.

Calls go to Jim. Jim says he married up. Karen agrees.

Small on purpose

Why the size of the crew matters

Local

Jim and Steffen live in Youngsville. Jonah lives in Rolesville. Your project is a short drive from someone’s house.

Experienced

Forty-eight years in Jim, a shop manager who came up from helper, and a site foreman who keeps his head when the scope changes.

Accountable

No rotating day labor on the finish work. The people on this page measure it, build it, install it, and stand behind it.
